Description

Requirements:  Certified to teach Special Education Preschool (SPED endorsement) and licensed through the Tennessee Department of Education.  Acceptable endorsement codes are:  

 

066, 067, 069, 105, 193, 194, 195, 199, 459, 460, 461, 465, 468

 

 

 

Part-time position is 7 hours per day/4 days per week

 

2019-20 Professional Salary Schedule (copy and paste the link below in to your browser).  The scale is based on a 200 day contract for a full year.  To find hourly rate, find annual salary based on education and years of verified teaching experience, and divide by 200 to get hourly rate, and multiply by 7 to get daily rate for this part-time position.

 

Developmental Preschool Special Education Teacher (serving students with disabilities)

 

Qualifications

  1. Valid teacher’s license with appropriate endorsement (066, 067, 069, 105, 193, 194, 195, 199, 459, 460, 461, 465, or 468).
  2. Strong written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  3. Basic understanding of and skill with computer technology for personal and presentation applications.
  4. Meets health and physical requirements.

 

Primary Responsibility

To provide services to students three through five years of age who have disabilities and are eligible for special education services and their families.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and socially appropriate for students with disabilities three through five years of age.
  2. Confer with parents, administrators, assessment personnel, and other professionals to develop an Individual Education Plan designed to promote students’ educational, physical, and social development.
  3. Communicate regularly with parents of students.
  4. Implement Individual Education Plans for students three through five years of age.
  5. Participate in transition meetings with Part C providers to ensure a smooth transition for children and their families entering and leaving Early Childhood special education.
  6. Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on children and activities as required by the district, state, and federal regulations.
  7. Prepare materials and classroom for class activities.
  8. Align lesson plans and activities to align with early childhood content standards.
  9. Work cooperatively with adults assigned to the classroom, establishing clear expectations for roles and responsibilities.
  10. Continue to grow professionally through collaboration with colleagues and professional growth opportunities.
  11. Participate in school level faculty meetings, system professional development and in-service meetings.
  12. Assists in upholding board policies, school rules, and administrative regulations.
  13. Protect confidentiality of records and information for students with disabilities three through five years of age.
  14. Report to proper authorities and principal when knowledgeable or suspicious that a child’s health or welfare has been or appears to be at risk as a result of abuse or neglect.
  15. Ability to lift and carry preschool students.
  16. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
